To be an actor, or to not be an actor? That is the question. Today, Landy Cannon would proudly exclaim, “Dammit, Janet! I love acting!” At a young age, Landy had a keen interest in acting. However, due to his commitment to sports, he was unable to properly pursue it.
Landy attended Carleton University. While in college, his concentration was on the football field. (He was playing on it, of course. Not mowing it.) He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree with an emphasis in Law. Upon completing his education, he slowly migrated into the entertainment industry.
Cannon got his foot in acting’s door by appearing in a wide range of commercials. His first professional acting job was a Labatt Lite commercial. He has appeared in approximately thirty commercials throughout his career. His most-notable appearance was in the Canadian commercial for Molson. (Click Here to watch it.)
Landy’s acting résumé also includes roles in various television shows and films. He has acted along side some of Hollywood’s elites, including: Christian Bale, Denise Richards, William Baldwin, Matthew Modine, Dave Chappelle, Steve Buscemi, David Hasslehoff, Halle Berry, Jennifer Beals, Pam Grier, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Meredith Baxter, Elizabeth Berkley, Jonathan Tucker, and Alan Rosenberg. (Just to name a few.) However, it was his starring role as Jason Parks in the 2007 independent Canadian horror/comedy film Dark Rising (written and directed by the fabulous Andrew Cymek) that garnered him the most recognition.
Landy reprises his role of Jason for both Dark Rising’s sequel Dark Rising 2: Summer Strikes Back! and both television series: Dark Rising: The Savage Tales of Summer Vale and Dark Rising: Warrior of Worlds.
Recently, Landy has had a guest roles on ABC’s police drama Rookie Blue, the CW Channel’s Beauty and the Beast, and Syfy’s Haven. Thus, leaving devoted Cannon fans wondering, “What other characters can this well-coiffed Canadian bring to life?”
