Jason’s First Scene
“You know, it’s not that women are evil. It’s not. It’s just that men, and by men, I mean ‘me’ men. Well, we’ve gotten soft. We’re a society of men, raised by women, and we’re a bunch of pussies—pardon my language—but, I mean, look at me. I’m sittin’ here, starin’ at the ring that I gave my high school sweetheart and I’m damn-near tears. It’s really pathetic. Bet you’re wondering what I’m doing with it? Well…My high school sweetheart decided that we were finished. So she packaged up the ring and sent it to me in the mail. No explanation-ay. Just a sparklin’ ring in a clean white envelope. Now you tell me. Is that fucked up or what? Yeah! That’s fucked up!”

[Long Pause. Hands ring to little girl.]

“I want you to have it. Before I give this to you, I want to you to remember something. Every time you to look at this ring; I want you to remember something. One day, you’re gonna meet someone special and you guys are gonna have a lot of good times and a lot of good memories. And then one day, you’re gonna think—you’re gonna be wrong, but you’re gonna think it. ‘I wonder if there’s somebody else out there for me. I wonder if I deserve better.’ And I want you to remember that you don’t. You don’t deserve better. Okay? Ya got that? I’m sorry…I’m rambling a little bit here…I’m sure that somebody out there said it a hell of a lot better than I just said it. Probably like Shakespeare…Kevin Smith. Oh, Nickelback. It hurts, man. You know, it really hurts.”

[Gets choked-up and finally hands ring to little girl.]

“Take the ring. And you remember what I told you, okay?”

[Walks away and then comes back. Takes ring.]

“Give me that ring back.”

Camp Site Scene – Jason, Renee, & Ricky
Jason: “We should go and see if Jasmine’s okay.”

Renee: “Marlene’s out there, too.”

Jason: “You’re right. Jasmine must be scared.”

Summer’s House Scene – Summer & Jason
Jason: “Summer, I need your help with something.”

Summer: [Pauses a beat.] “I don’t understand. Are you not a man?”

Jason: “Well, yeah.”

Summer: “Then why would you need my help?”

Jason: “Oh…Umm…Okay…You mean like a man man. Umm, uh, how do I say this? I’m still very much into the ladies. I’m just also in touch with my sensitive side. You know, like hair products? Things like this? No? Uh…Okay…Okay…I need your help getting back to…I’m looking for someone. Her name is Renee and she—”

[Summer has violent flashbacks. Physical pain strikes her.]

Summer’s Father’s Study Scene – Jason, Summer, & Renee
Renee: [to Summer] “Your Highness, I believe I’ve dreamt of you before.”

Jason: [mumbles] “Yeah, me too.”

Summer: [to Renee] “What kind of dreams?”

Jason: “Yeah, Renee, what kind of dreams?”

Running From The Killopoth – Jason & Renee
Jason: [very proudly] “I’m a man, Renee.”

Renee: “Since when!”

Jason: “It’s a new thing. I’m trying it out.”
